Year 9 artists investigated Still Life and Vanitas though both Contemporary and Historical artists. They planned their own still life arrangements to photograph which in turn helped inform the compositions for their work. Considering the formal qualities of the artists of influence, students then responded to complete their own paintings.
Still Life Vanitas Paintings
Using the technique of Assemblage students explored self portraits and sculpture using found objects. They investigated artists such as Ah Xian and Frida Khalo to inspire the symbolism in their artworks. They considered personal contexts and formal elements and principles of art to construct, deconstruct and manipulate materials to help communicate their intent.
